Torah 5783

THE ROOTS

The first five books of the Old Testament consist of the Five Books of Moses. the Torah of YHVH's law includes the ten instructions, or decalogue, given to Moses by YHVH at Mount Sinai. They include the Laws of God which are ethical principles of living that pertain to a holy life. The Torah is also called the Pentateuch and contains the religious, judicial, dietary and the civil laws of Hebrew society. Apart from the sacrificial laws, they remain alongside YHVH's instructions for His seasonal feasts.

The Torah is often misconstrued by Christians as the Law, however, they are the teachings and statues of YHVH, given to Israel. They contain the principles of how a person should Iive and benefit in a covenant relationship with God.

Torah is part of the book Christianity calls the Old Testament. Torah contains both the oral and written laws.  The Torah is also known as the Chumash, Pentateuch or Five Books of Moses.

The five books of the Torah are read in sections or Parsha's throughout the year. It is also read in conjunction with the Haftarah ( the remaining books in the Tanakh, an acronym (TNK) for the Prophets (Nevi'im) and the Kethuvim, (the Psalms and Writings which include the books of the minor prophets).

Weekly Torah Pearls

The Torah Parshas, when studied in depth, bring the student through four different levels (PARDES) of revelation and understanding.Teaching within these studies is paralleled in Renewed Covenant theology and in the teachings of Messiah Yeshua.
